Back-to-back Lance Todd trophy winner Marc Sneyd says Hull FC are going the extra mile in pre-season to prepare for the 2018 BetFred Super League campaign.
With week 3 done and dusted in the black and whites camp, the influential playmaker is ready to undertake another week of practice, and says early starts and long hours are on the recipe with the aid of the conditioning staff.
A grueling morning session typically consists of cardio and physical gym work, which in turn requires a lot of ‘following’ instructions for the players, but Sneyd insists the team also understand initiative is required from the entire squad to ensure they are collectively and physically ready for 2018.
Marc Sneyd commented:
“We all put a bit of onus on each other as well. There is only so much that Hatto (Paul Hatton) can tell us to do. People have also got to get on with it on their own,”
“We are sometimes here at half seven in a morning for an 8.15am training start and we’ve got 20 lads stretching out in the gym and preparing. That’s good to see and it shows we want to be ready for the tough sessions ahead.”
“The physio staff have only got so many hours to do their work so the more we do in terms of stretching and getting our bodies right for the sessions the better.”
“These are the one percent things of the pre-season. It might seem like not a lot but how we are preparing our bodies for each session is all part of injury prevention heading into the campaign.”
