Kit’s Alright! – All The New Super League Shirts 2018

There’s some great shirts on show ahead of the 2018 BetFred Super League campaign, and up to now, we’ve yet to see a ‘shocker’….or will we!

Castleford Tigers

The 2017 League Shield winners were among the first to unveil their new kit for the new season, and it’s no surprise as Xblades quite obviously raided the design files again for some old templates.

I’d show you the away shirt, but it’s almost identical….okay, it’s the one with Greg Eden in the header image! Overall – 6/10

Catalans Dragons

They may be average at times on the field, but the French rarely disappoint when it comes to the fashion department.

Ohh, and a ‘Cup’ kit too. Fancy. Overall – 8/10

Huddersfield Giants

This was the preview the Giants gave their huge fan base the other night online.

About as exciting as a trip to Stoke on a cold, rainy night then.

Update* It’s not that exciting afterall.

Overall – 6/10

Hull FC

Obviously the best new shirts released in 2018.

Joking aside, the gold trims and colour-less sponsoring on the shirts make it a class above for me. The pink away shirt however, nice on the players, but I wouldn’t personally wear it.

Overall – 9/10

Hull KR

Rivalry aside for one moment, I’ve seen worse shirts, but I’m not sure about the whole ‘paint the town’ branding going on.

Don’t they know we live in a city….a city which is home to the back-to-back cup kings!?

Overall – 6/10

Leeds Rhinos

The Super League champs are back! In blue and amber again!

In all honesty, this is a really smart home kit, exactly what you’d want, if you were a Leeds fan….

Overall – 8/10

Salford Red Devils

It’s a new look Salford. But I’m sure Tonga wore a similar top in Jonah Lomu rugby on PS1, circa. 1997.

Anyway, it’s a simple and effective design, but do they even have any fans to sell it too?

Overall – 7/10

Unsurprisingly, the Saints have opted for a Red ‘V’ in 2018, but remarkably enough they rarely fall short on ideas to adapt a new design, and they’ve pulled it off nicely this time around!

The away shirt is basically an old Widnes top with a Saints logo on though by the looks of it.

Overall – 9/10

Wakefield Trinity

Wakey are another of those clubs that fly under the fashion radar, and regularly release solid home and away shirts. And who could forget about last year’s re-cycled NRL Spider Man kit. That was great.
The shape of the sponsoring looks a little suspicious though….
Overall – 8/10

Warrington Wolves

Edit* They’ve finally got round to releasing it after obviously feeling left out of our Kit’s Alright Article.
They needn’t have bothered, it’s the worst Warrington home kit I’ve seen in over 10 years!

Overall – 3/10

Widnes Vikings

Apologies for this, there’s just one more team who haven’t quite pulled their finger out yet!

So, while you’re waiting (I will be updating this by the way so check back!), he’s a picture of Peter Beardsley. Maybe another Newcastle-esque design?

Overall – ?/10

Wigan Warriors

Are we forgetting anyone? Anyone at all…ohh yeah, last year’s beaten cup finalists!

To be fair, the new home shirt looks great, similarly to Hull they work on a 3-year rota of crap shirts, slightly naff shirts, then great shirts.

The away shirt however leaves a lot to be desired and ruins the overall score for me….

Overall – 7/10
